What is a Street Team? According to Wikipedia:
A street team is a term used in marketing to describe a group of people who ‘hit the streets’ promoting an event or a product. ‘Street Teams’ are promotional tools that have been adopted industry wide as a standard line item in marketing budgets by entertainment companies, record labels, the tech industry, corporate brand marketers, new media companies and direct marketers worldwide.
So why does Free Radical Network need a street team? Because one of our goals is to support activists, writers, video makers and other exceptional messengers who don’t get enough exposure or attention. When people create good content, it deserves a broad audience. And that means creating a team that will get behind new or little-known content creators to help them grow their audience.
When you sign up for the Street Team, you’ll receive e-mails, usually daily, with the stuff we think is cool, powerful, helpful, and needs to be shared. If you agree, just share the items in your social media, whether Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, e-mail, Google Plus, Reddit or other platforms. If you want to go the extra mile, leave a comment on the piece as well. It gives the creator good feedback that can help him in future endeavors, and lets him know that he’s engaging real people.
Also, we know we don’t need to say it, but we’re going to say it: We promise never to share your information with anyone, even for offers of chocolate, or bacon. Even under threats of bamboo shoots under the fingernails. That’s how much we respect your privacy. I mean, do you REALIZE how much that stuff HURTS?
