Civil-Rights

Let’s Do The Time Warp Again!

For the past few weeks after reading the headlines, I really felt like I was in a time warp.  When did the right become the civil rights protesters and the left become the establishment?

Here you have Senator Rand Paul conducting a filibuster for  13 hours trying to protect Americans civil rights.  Senators Ted Cruz and others were by his side, and the lone Democrat Oregon Senator Wyden was there too.  Where was the left?  Where was the outrage that the left had when President G.W. Bush used drones?

Then you have Senators McCain and Graham berating Senator Paul for standing up for American civil rights.  They were out having dinner with President Obama getting into who knows what budget/deficit problems.  Where were they when Eric Holder skirted around the answer about targeting Americans on American soil in a non-combat moment WITHOUT the person having due process?  Gee, I guess there is another Right that the left doesn’t feel is valid.

The fifth ammendment states: “No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”

It took more than 13 hours for Holder to finally answer the question asked by Senator Rand Paul.  His answer “It has come to my attention that you have now asked an additional question: “Does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil?”  The answer to that question is no.”

It has been the right, NOT the left, that has been shouting out for the protection of American Civil Rights.  Because it is Obama in the Presidency, the left is basically silent on these rights.  There are even protests songs coming out by the right.  One by “The Army You Have” is their latest song  “No Surprise”

Once upon a time, this was what the left stood for “Protection of Civil Rights”.  When did they throw this role away?  When did the left start working for the man and those on the right were left to protest him?
